Saying Goodbye
June 8, 2008
Just sent my sister Anne off to the Middle East for six months. She’s taken three years of Arabic so far, but evidently every country has their own dialect, so going abroad is the best (only?) way of learning them.
First, she’s spending two months in Amman, Jordan with the State Department.

(that’s the flag of Amman, Jordan. Sort of cool, huh?)
After her summer in Amman (doesn’t that sound hot?), she’ll spend a week in Cairo, and then the rest of the fall in Alexandria. You know, the one with the library?

Yeah, it’s set up like that to optimize the number of windows overlooking the Mediterranean. I’m jealous.
So over the course of the next six months, she’ll basically learn two new languages, and will never be able to wear short sleeves outside, even though it’ll be at least 90 degrees the entire time. I’m not quite as jealous of that, but I’d probably still kill to be able to visit her.
New Test Drive:

The Audi A4 Convertible…

It has front wheel drive, it’s blue (with a blue top, cuuuuute), it’s in my price range, and i don’t think it’ll spontaneously combust. Basically, it solves all of my problems. Except being an import and probably being expensive to take care of. But I’ll try to think of that as a perk–everyone loves babying their favorite plaything, right?
