Internship

June 12, 2008

For the next few weeks, I’ll be working on-and-off at the public policy center that my mom works at part-time. Mostly, she wants some help with a project that she’s currently working on, and she knows I’m pretty good with excel (or at least better than she is!). Plus, a family friend is the boss, and he thinks I’m pretty cool, and wants someone to work on the website…I’m not sure how that’s going to go.

But I’ll finally have something to do during the day besides looking for cars (search over!) and apartments (search stalled because I can’t see any of the dozens I’ve bookmarked so far!). The only other things I have to wrap up are my tremendous loan (!!!) and insurance (which is very much more reasonable than insurance for the convertibles was going to be, surprise surprise).

It might be a little weird working with/for my mom, but I think that we’ll be okay. Whatever I do, it’s helping her out, and I’m a pretty efficient worker when I put my mind to something. And I really have nothing else to put my mind to, so why the hell not work? Plus I’ll be working on public health policy, so maybe I’ll learn something that will help me with my new health care software job…maybe.

Try saying “heath care software consulting” three times fast. It’s harder than you’d think. I have a lot of practice.
