All I Iowa

Those are the NYT photos of all the flooding that’s going on right now. At the very least, it’s a little bit terrifying, and if you’re like me and you’ve slowly fallen in love with Iowa over the last few years (which probably describes a good majority of the readers of this blog), it’s more than a little heartbreaking.

Dick Haymes said it well:

Though I know all I owe I owe Iowa
I owe Iowa all I owe and I know why
I’m an Iowa born and bred
And on Iowa corn I’m fed
Not to mention her barley wheat and rye
I Iowa for her ham and her beef
And her lamb and her strawberry jam

So I think I’ll move to Californi-a
